Quickest way of dimensioning an Object
462 viewsNo Draftsman will ever want their drawing to be stale for days. Thats why it is important for us, that we should know any techniques that will able to helps us Drafters and Architects alike to speed up our drawings in a fastest way as possible.
One techniques that will surely a big help in speeding up our work is by using command Quick Dimension or QDIM, if you type it in at the command prompt. This command is particularly usefull for creating a series of baseline or continued dimensions, or for dimensioning a series of circles, arcs and polygonal objects.

Using this command, you can put a series of baseline dimension on a polygonal objects, by selecting the object alone. Then it will automatically create all the necessary dimension of the object. (fig.1)

You can also choose any options available from this command, if the need arise ofcourse. Some of the options are as follows:
- Continuous -
- Creates a series of continued dimensions.
- Staggered -
- Creates a series of staggered dimensions.
- Baseline -
- Creates a series of baseline dimensions.
- Ordinate -
- Creates a series of ordinate dimensions.
- Radius -
- Creates a series of readius dimensions.
- Diameter -
- Creates a series of diameter dimensions.
- Datum point -
- Sets a new datum point for baseline and ordinate dimensions.
- Select new datum point: Specify a point, the program retun to the previous prompt.
- Sets a new datum point for baseline and ordinate dimensions.
- Edit -
- Edits a series of dimensions. In this option you can either add or remove points from existing dimensions.
- Indicate dimension point to remove, or [Add/exit]<exit>:Specify a point, enter A, or press ENTER to return to the previous prompt. (fig.2)
